Dr Katie

From the moment I could spell it, I have always, only ever wanted to be a veterinarian. After graduating from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1997, I worked for a mixed animal practice in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. In 2002 my family moved back to our home state of Maine, where I took a job with the Eastern Maine Emergency Veterinary Clinic. When being an emergency vet became incompatible with life, I bought River Road Veterinary Hospital, where I have practiced now for over a decade. My special interests are dentistry (for dogs, cats, and rodents) and exotic companion small mammals (like guinea pigs and chinchillas). My husband, Matthew, is an architect and the founding principal of Carter Architectural Design in Bangor. We have two sons and make our home in Bangor. We share our busy life with three dogs, four cats, two hamsters, two guinea pigs, and freshwater aquarium fish. My favorite way to exercise and relax is gardening, and I am a Master Gardener Volunteer through the University of Maine Cooperative Extension.
